How to Choose the right Titleist Golf Balls for your game
With many Titleist balls available it can be daunting choosing the right ball
and with Titleist being the most popular ball brand the high standards of ball make choosing even more.
We break down the information here on each ball to help choose the right balls for you.
PRO V1 AND PROV1 X GOLF BALLS
In both white and yellow the Pro V1 and Pro V1x come as a standard box of 12 balls with each containing 4 sleeves of 3 balls. Each box comes with 1 sleeve of each numbers 1 to 4 with a 5 to 8 variation also available. Off of the popularity of the higher number option Titleist also introduced the Special Play or Custom Number option, with each box having the same number from 00-99.
Pro V1 is a 3 piece construction ball with a compression of around 87 and the Pro V1x is a little higher at 94, this is a firmer ball offering more spin.
The Pro V1 has a softer feel and less spin, with a flater trajectory than the Pro V1x this makes it the preferred ball for players looking for long distance and more trajectrory.
In comparison the Pro V1x is ideal for golfers with naturally low launch and spin.
If you have a low handicap or are looking for a tour ball the Pro V1 and Pro V1x are recommended for you.
AVX GOLF BALLS
Another premium 3-piece balls the AVX is available in both white and yellow.
Used by tour players and low handicap golfers the AVX is a very soft ball at around a compression of 60, offering less spin and height when compared to both the Pro V1 and Pro V1x.
With a larger core formulation, thinner urethane cover and tiled 352 tetrahedral design the AVX is a great ball for a premium player looking for distance, piercing ball flight and extreme softness.
We would recommend this ball for low handicap golfers.
TOUR SOFT GOLF BALLS
Another soft ball with a 2-piece construction the Tour Soft, whilst being considerably cheaper than the AVX, Pro V1 or Pro V1x, still offers excellent spin, and distance renowned from Titleist golf balls.
With a very large core, the largest in the Titleist range, and compression of around 60, the Tour Soft also has an ultra thin urethane cover and 346 quadrilateral dipyramid dimple design for optimal ball flight.
If you are a mid handicap golfer who prioritises straight distance then the Tour Soft is the ball for you.
VELOCITY GOLF BALLS
A very popular mid-range ball, the Velocity is a 2-piece ball available in a range of colours, including vivid matte options.
With a design made for high speed and launch, the Velocity is probably the most durable ball in the Titleist range.
You may find that this doesn't offer as much control as the Tour Soft but what it lacks in control it makes up for with incredible distance thanks to its high-speed LSX Core and 350 octahedral spherically-tiled dimple design.
The Velocity is a great ball for mid handicap golfers who looking for a ball which offer consistent straight distance.
TRUFEEL GOLF BALLS
Another really popular ball which is great for high handicap golfers looking for a budget ball which offers fantastic durability and distance.
Trufeel are available in white and yellow and are the lowest price ball offered by Titleist. Don't let the price fool you, these balls, when tested, were one of the best around for straight long flight. All thanks to the LSX core and 350 octahedral spherically-tiled dimple design.
